Albion Online must be rewarding enough vs time invested
SI plans to offer more structured PvP in upcoming content patches, which may offer the PvP many people seek. The supposed yellow zone alternative to the full loot zones, is not setup correctly, since PvP is punished with the lose of all reputation, and because all those starting zones are clustered in big chunks, which limits movement.
However, once you have structured PvP in certain locations, the chance is high that you then are forced to go there when you want fast easy, less punishable PvP. This can only work in a big game world when you have a zone layout which is more diverse, instead of cluster structures (only green, red, yellow or black zones put together) which leaves only few options.
Game must be rewarding enough vs time invested. If you have to walk 1 hour to have a 3 minutes PvP encounter where you are left with the only choice to run and hide, is not rewarding. Or if your only choice is to organize a big group each time you want to engage in PvP, or to successfully counter ganks.
If the entire world map has green/yellow/red/black zones evenly distributed, the chance of getting ganked becomes much less so, population would more easily spread. There would still be the gankers, but because people could spread faster, instead of sticking to the same cities, big groups would as well be more evenly distributed throughout the map. And you could still have harder to reach regions, but they should not be that exclusive, there could be other incentives.
An interesting addition would be zones which are only partially open for full loot PvP, similar to the unrestricted zones, which must be crossed to reach certain harder to reach areas. Those unrestricted parts then would be the focal points for PvP and ganking. Additional you could have battlefield themed zones which could be setup for structured full loot and no loot group PvP (you only can enter with a group of 5, or 10, or 20). Unrestricted regions could be placed in almost all zones actually, areas with more resources and to encourage PvP elsewhere.
When you then add a location in these zones to access your guild battle chest, and have respawns setup there, you can offer around the clock PvP.

Will PVP fame ever skill up weapons and armor?
I understand now it doesn't do anything but increase your overall fame.. That is really sad to hear as it was one of the main driving forces for why I liked to play. Is there any plans to reintroduce something like this?
